Changing our Venue !

Aloha Fans and Site Visitors !
We have made a decision to dedicate our site and weblog to Kauai and Products made in Kauai ONLY. Kauai is the oldest Island of the Main Hawaiian Islands and incredibly beautiful …. It is called the Garden Island by many for a very good reason. Things seem to grow well there ! It has a rain fall like none other on Planet Earth……At it’s center it is the Wetest on the Planet. But the sun shines there as well and causes things to grow in abundance…..like the coffee plant and the chocolate tree. We now plan to sell both chocolate and coffee from Kauai on our site here at AHawaiian.com
So give us a day or two and come on back and take a look, Okay ?!!!

Lanai Continued…….

Aloha All,

I promised you more about Lanai and why I love this Island, so here goes…. It’ is privately owned…and that means through the years it has not become overgrown like it’s neighbors of Oahu or even Maui.  In it’s past it was owned by the Dole Co. and was the largest producer of Pineapples in the country.  At that time it’s singular hotel was located in the small town called Lanai City as I mentioned in my last post, however there are still only three hotels all together on the Island presently….the last two having been added back in the mid to late 80′s.  One at Manele Bay and one up in the tree ladden Mountain top overlooking the Island.  Lanai is great for golfing , turtle, whale and dolphin watching and sightseeing and hunting various wildlife.  This is just a short overview and I will elaborate further tomorrow and perhaps Johnathan will have time to translate again into Hawaiian Pidgin for those of you ”locals” and others who enjoy or have an interested in learning local lingo.

Aloha Fans !

We truely appreciate all our loyal fans and new readers of our Blogsite ! You have sent us so many wonderful comments full of ideas and encouragement and we thank you !
Today I want to tell you a little about my favorite of all the Hawaiian Islands, Lanai.  I love Lanai for many reasons.  It holds fond memories for me from back in the early 1980′s when I camped there at Manele Bay and watched the spinner dolphins display their characteristic antics of playful arobatics each morning upon waking from a peaceful nights rest.  We would climb from our sleeping bags on the beach and sit crosslegged in the sand sipping “cowboy” coffee and watch the sun reflecting from the dolphin’s backs as they spun up into the air and twirled their way across the Bay and back again, as though they were there just to entertain us !  Back then there was only one small, single-story hotel on the Island and it was centrally located in the little town of Lanai far from the Bay.  More about Lanai on Saturday afternoon….

Lanai to be continued ….. “Auntie” Olivia Leigh St. Anne

About “Reading Eggs”

“Auntie Olivia”

Aloha !

The “Reading Eggs” program really works. I know, because I use it with my twin grandneice and grandnephew and they love it! Statistically, 99.6% of parents love this program and 98% of teachers are recommending it to other teachers. It’s the #1 learn to Read Phonics Program, because parents and educator’s can teach basic reading skills in just twenty minutes per day. Wish they’d had this when I was a kid !

Hi there !  If you are wondering which Island to visit in Hawaii, they have a saying that regards Maui as your best bet, whether it’s your honeymoon or a vacation for the whole family…….   Maui “is the best ” ! It’s not too big or small and it has a little bit of everything and lots of action….The biggest  beach for large waves is called “Jaws”and the most beautiful sunrise is at the top of Mount Haleakala Volcanic Crater, not to mention all kinds of other amazing beaches ! The best place to dine out on the beach if you have lots of money is”Mama’s Fish House” just before you reach Paia Town on the road to Hana.  The road to Hana is a long and winding journey that will make you breathless in more ways than one !  (The vegetation is lovely but try not to look down below or gasp you will….)

How to Choose a Coconut

Whether you are in the Islands or on the mainland when you choose a coconut you want to choose a good one full of the delicious and healthful coconut milk (juice).  For this you will want to shake it and test for slosh.  Too much slosh and not enough weight in the feel of it, means it’s drying out fast and not your best bet.  Check out another one and feel the weight of it and the amount of slosh.  Less slosh more weight equals more coconut milk and a fresher coconut.  Pretty simple, eh ?  Now for the opening ceremony.  Notice the three eyes on the one end of it, choose one and  hammer through it with an ice pick or some such object, just enough to get a straw in there.  then find a hammock under anything But coconut palms and you will have a safe relaxing place to sip your coconut drink ! After you’re finished use a large knife or a machetti to crack that hard shell open right near the original hole you made and feast on the delicious milk white ‘meat”.

Hi everyone ! Hope you are having an awesome day ! If you are in hawaii right now it will surely be one of the best days of your life ! You might want to start your day off by grabbing one or two of the rich supply of boogie boards, etc. from your hotel or local rental. But if you want
it to cost less ? Ask someone on the beach if they would mind allowing you to try out their surfboard……
If you are staying on Kauai then try out Lidgate Park in Wailua. It is perfect for the whole family. It’s very safe for lots of fun in the sun ! It has
decent restrooms and shady pavillions with picnicing tables where you can eat lunch.. Whether you bring something to throw on the BBQ or
make it fast an easy, by buying at McDonald’s in nearby Kapa’a Town . Unless , of course, you are an organic health afficianado. Then you will want to shop at nearby “Papaya’s” for all your needs in the Safeway shopping center in Kapa’a Town as well.
Later on if you want to go fishing or surfing there are places for that too, but you are going to wonder just why it isn’t called “catching”! Also you will find more surf than surfers…..
There are lots of waterfalls for sightseeing and ponds to swim in as well as gorgeous hiking trails….. Whatever you like, we have it here ! There is so much to do and so little time to do it all, so be smart (akamai) as we say and don’t be shy !
If you have any special requests for what , where, or how to do anything…….your answer(s) can be found right here through me, a local boy, born and raised here, who knows “what’s up” !
No matter where you are staying in the Hawaiian Islands, this site will help you save money and have more fun in this lovely Paradise.
Just send me an email at indieelove23@gmail.com and become a part of our Ohana, because Ohana means Family and family means no one gets left behind !
